The race for the Ringim/Taura Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections has begun to take shape as the immediate past Chairman of Ringim Local Government Area in Jigawa State, Hon. Shehu Sule Udi, formally declared his ambition under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Udi officially joined the contest after purchasing the ADC nomination form, weeks after dumping the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over what he described as the party’s deviation from its founding principles.
The former council chairman said his decision to seek election into the House of Representatives is driven by a desire to provide purposeful leadership, effective representation and sustainable development for the people of Ringim and Taura.
He pledged to prioritise the welfare and aspirations of the people, promising inclusive representation and policies that would address the needs of youths, women and vulnerable communities across the constituency.
Udi, who is widely regarded by supporters as a grassroots politician with strong community ties, is credited with building a formidable political structure during his tenure as chairman of Ringim Local Government Area.
Political associates say several of his loyal supporters and allies have already moved with him to the ADC following his defection from the APC.
Supporters also point to his record in youth empowerment, infrastructure development and community engagement as qualities that distinguish him as a strong contender for the House of Representatives seat.
Observers within the constituency believe his growing support base, political experience and organisational strength could significantly influence the 2027 contest in Ringim and Taura Federal Constituency.
